Bancroft man pleads guilty to bank robbery

UPDATE 11/14/2017:

Jeffrey Bonneau, 38, of Bancroft, Nebraska plead guilty Monday to a single count of bank Robbery and possession of a firearm.

Authorities say Bonneau robbed the First Bank of Bancroft in Bancroft of more than $6,700 last April and later crashed on an all-terrain vehicle as he tried to flee the area.

Bonneau is scheduled for sentencing in Omaha on February 12th.



UPDATE: (AP) — Two men have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a northeast Nebraska bank robbery.

Court records say Jeffrey Bonneau and Lenn Zuhlke entered the pleas Monday in U.S. District Court in Omaha.

Both are charged with bank robbery. Bonneau also is charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Authorities say Bonneau robbed the First Bank of Bancroft in Bancroft of more than $6,700 on April 20 and later crashed on an all-terrain vehicle as he tried to flee the area.

Court documents don’t say what Zuhlke did to merit the charge.

Federal prosecutors are now charging a second man in connection with last month's bank robbery in Bancroft, Nebraska.

We already knew 38- year- old Jeffrey Bonneau was charged with Bank Robbery, now the U- S Attorney's Office says 55- year- old Lenn Zuhlke of Bancroft is also facing charges.

An indictment filed this week in Federal Court in Omaha claims Zuhlke aided and abetted Bonneau in his robbery of the First Bank of Bancroft back on April 20th.

Both men entered pleas of "not guilty" to the charges in Federal Court today.
