Sioux City council moving forward with plans for reinvestment district downtown
The Sioux City City Council is moving forward with a contract with the Iowa Economic Development Authority tonight.
The contract will create a reinvestment district downtown, which is a required step for the state board to get many projects throughout Sioux City the funding they need to move forward.
That district includes projects like the new Courtyard by Marriott, the Bomgaars Ag Expo Learning Center, and the redevelopment of the Warrior Davidson building into a hotel just to name a few.
Sioux City City Council member Alex Watters had this to say about the matter, "To move forward in this I think is going to be an incredible opportunity for the city. I'm looking forward to all the different projects if we can get this done. I think it's going to be something that the entire community can be proud of. And I'm looking forward to it, this was just the next step in that process."
With the contract the city will receive more than 13 million dollars for future projects spread out across four different groups.
