Sioux City speech therapist charged with sexual exploitation
Sioux City, Ia —
A 35 year old Sioux City speech therapist was arrested and charged yesterday with Sexual Exploitation by counselor/ therapist, assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and lascivious conduct with a minor.
Court documents say that on May 31st, an 11 year old girl went to her scheduled speech therapy appointment at LifeScape, AbleKids but her regular therapist was unavailable.
Another speech therapist, Jacob Rose, covered the appointment.
According to documents, over the course of the appointment Rose exposed himself and asked the young girl to perform sex acts on him.
Rose was arrested on June 12th and was housed in the Woodbury County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
He is out on bond.
Rose is charged with Sexual Exploitation by counselor/ therapist, assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and lascivious conduct with a minor.
Rose has a scheduled court date for June 21st.

LifeScape has policies and procedures in place which lay out expectations related to employee conduct and maintaining high professional standards. These policies and procedures clearly lay out what will occur when allegations of this nature are made. Per policy, and upon learning of the allegation, the therapist was immediately placed on leave. The matter was reported to law enforcement by the family and they (law enforcement) are handling the investigation. LifeScape is cooperating fully with them. The safety and security of the children we support will continue to be our utmost concern. Our long established, people focused policies and procedures, guide us each day as we provide compassionate care to the people we are fortunate to serve.
The employee whom these allegations are against is no longer employed with us.
