Sioux City woman charged with robbing bar
Sioux City, IA —
A Sioux City woman is in jail tonight after being accused of robbing a local bar.
According to court documents, this morning, approximately 1:45 am, Zallie Moniz, 33, was inside Perera's Place night club on Correctionville Road and was drinking with another female friend.
There was some conversation between the friend and the bar owner, Robert Perera, when Moniz became agitated and brandished a large knife at the owner.
Police say Moniz demanded Perera give her money from the cash register and his wallet and then give her a ride to 19th and Court.
Perera complied with the demands, and later Moniz fled on foot and was taken into custody shortly later.
Documents say the large knife was eventually located and some of the money was recovered.
Moniz is in custody in the Woodbury County Jail and charged with Robbery 2nd.
Her bail is set at $12,000.
