Siouxland TAG students spend day at Morningside College talking middle school transition
SIOUX CITY, Ia —
Some of the best and brightest from Sioux City's schools spent their day planning for the future.
5th graders in the "Talented and Gifted" (TAG) program spent the morning at Morningside College, talking about ways to help their classmates make a smooth transition to middle school in the fall.
"The TAG retreat was basically an opportunity for the kids to practice their leadership skills and literally create a retreat. They did all the planning, all the organizing, they came up with all the sessions," said tech specialist Nicole Umland.
Having the students plan the entire event themselves helped meet several standards of TAG programs that are set by the National Association of Gifted Students.
