SSC new drone use ordinance

SSC new drone use ordinance

South Sioux City's City Council took the first steps to limiting drone use in city limits.

The council says they're trying to provide more public safety and privacy. After deciding there needed to be more guidelines for people operating a drone.

The new ordinance tasks the South Sioux City Police with responding to calls about improper drone usage.

South Sioux City Administrator Lance Hedquist said, "PD has reviewed the ordinance and they agree with the ordinance. This is a national issue it's not a localized issue, this is taking place across the country for drones cause their in every city in the country."

The new ordinance will affect all drone users, regardless of if the user is licensed or not.

The ordinance still must be approved two more times before it becomes a law.
