The largest bowling alley left in Sioux City is about to be no more
SIOUX CITY, IA (SIOUXLAND NEWS) —
Just months after being saved from closing at auction it looks like it may be the end for a popular Sioux City bowling alley.
the sign in the door says that Plaza Bowl on Hamilton Boulevard will close on May 1st.
That bowling alley, the largest left in Sioux City is currently owned by Heritage Bank.
The Plaza's long- time manager tells us the facility will soon close due to a failure to pay taxes.
He says this is just the latest in a string of difficulties for bowling in Sioux City
Peter Strom the Plaza Bowl Manager told us that "When I first started here there was thirty-three leagues from starting Monday morning all the way through Sunday night and we're down to about nine leagues so that's where things have really gone down hill".
An Attorney for the bank says they still hope to find an owner before May 1st.
The impending closing of Plaza Bowl will leave just the 12- lane Rush Works complex in Singing Hills as Sioux City's only bowling alley.
The bank has the facility on the market for an asking price of $1.6 million.
