Western Iowa Tech Hosts Kid Wind Festival
SIOUX CITY, IA —
Local 4th Graders learned about renewable energy at Western Iowa Tech's "Kid Wind Festival" Thursday.
The event gives a chance for all 4th graders in Sioux City to learn about how turbines transfer energy from the wind to the power grid.
Students also created wind turbine blades using the engineering process, and then got to test their blades.
“I think this is a way especially in Iowa. We have a lot of wind farms in Iowa that this is just something locally that they can grab on to and I know there are jobs and careers as well," said Kyle Timmons, STEM Coordinator.
The 4th graders will also participate in Earth Day activities in celebration of green energy and energy conservation.
