Winter storm hits as weekend wraps up
Parts of Siouxland are already beginning to see snow and rain this evening. That rain will transition over to snow throughout the overnight hours. Winds will pick up tonight and range from 20-25 MPH with gusts up to 35. Some places could see three inches of snow overnight. Tomorrow look for wind gusts up to 40 MPH and higher. This will cause blowing snow and dangerous travel conditions.
Snow totals across most of Siouxland are expected to be in the 12-15 inch range with isolated areas capable of seeing more. There is sharp drop off as some areas could see slightly less. Blizzard warnings are in effect for most of Siouxland from now through Monday evening and midnight Monday. Blizzard conditions are likely starting Monday morning into the afternoon. Stay alert and take caution if you do venture out on the roads.
