President Trump talks about the difference between being a CEO and president

One on one with President Donald Trump (WWMT)

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) – President Donald Trump is the first businessman to be elected president since Jimmy Carter.

In an exclusive interview with Newschannel 3, the President told us what he thinks is the biggest difference between leading a business and leading the country.

President Trump sat down with Newschannel 3’s Nick Minock on Wednesday to talk about the transition from CEO to President, among other things.

Nick: I want to ask you, what have you learned in your role so far. What’s the difference between being a CEO of a successful company and being the President of the United States?

Trump: I think one of the differences is the dishonest media. I deal a lot with this fake news. Some of it is wonderful and they’re wonderful people, but much of it is fake. It’s lies and it’s a whole big, I guess, political bent. So much of the news is false, when you do something, they say it’s not good or not as good as it could be. We just got our poll numbers and they’re the best they’ve been since I was elected president.

As a former CEO, President Trump says one of his major challenges was trying to build businesses and hire in the U.S. because of government interference and regulations. Newschannel 3 spoke with President Trump just before he sat down with the top executives in the auto industry near Detroit.

President Trump says people elected a CEO to run the country because they want to put America first.

Trump: People understand and the people of Michigan understand. They see manufacturing coming back, the automobile companies are coming back to Michigan. If I didn’t get elected they wouldn’t even be thinking about it. They’re not doing what they’re supposed to be doing, which is building all over Mexico and other places, they’re coming back to Michigan and other states. They’re coming back and they’re coming back fast, in fact I’m meeting with them in a little while, we’re going to have a big roundtable with car manufacturers. I want them back in Michigan. We’re going to make it real easy to come back.

Nick: When you meet with these top executives, what tone will you take in this meeting?

Trump: I think it’s a very nice tone, I mean I’m going to help them. I’m going to help them on emissions, I’m going to help them on fuel, I’m going to help them, but they’re going to help me. Because if I help them, they have to open up factories and create jobs.

President Trump says too many regulations are in the way of car companies and most big corporations. He says his goal is to reduce regulations to make it easier for businesses to stay in the U.S. instead of leaving for other countries like Mexico and India.
