Larry Wentz is a native of Blue Earth, Minnesota (home of the Jolly Green Giant), where his parents ran a bakery. He received his journalism degree from Iowa State University in 1977. Larry has been a reporter, anchor, and news director throughout his career. He has worked at WHO Radio and TV in Des Moines, WQOW in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and WBAY-TV in Green Bay.
He came to Sioux City in 1990 and spent 8 years at KTIV-TV, after which he spent two years as a realtor and producer of a real estate television show. Afterwards, Larry was anchor for KMEG 14 for 3 years. Most recently, he spent 8 years as evening anchor for KCAU-TV in Sioux City. Besides his impressive resume, Larry also is an avid spokesman for organ donations, and received the IBNA's prestigious Jack Shelley Award last spring.
Larry's teams are the Iowa State Cyclones, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Minnesota Twins. Larry's family includes wife Lola, sons Chris and Kelly. Chris and Michelle Henshaw are the parents of his grandchildren Ava and Nolan. His stepsons are Keenan and Quintin Crow.
