Man From Anthon, IA Killed in Construction Accident

The Woodbury County Sheriff's Office says the man was trapped under a piece of machinery and died while waiting for an air ambulance.

He's been identified 49-year-old Daniel Uhl of Anthon.

Uhl was part of a crew replacing a bridge near 160th Street and Pocahontas Avenue southeast of Correctionville when he became trapped shortly after 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

Daniel Lewis Uhl, 49, from Anthon, IA was operating a large piece of earthmoving equipment when the accident occurred. The incident is still under investigation. Previous Story: A construction worker building a bridge southeast of Correctionville has died after a piece of construction equipment fell on him. According to the Correctionville Police Department, that accident happened shortly after 1:00 Tuesday afternoon near 160th Street and Pocahontas Avenue southeast of Correctionville. Crews were doing dirt work as part of a project to replace a bridge on the road when a man in his 40s was pinned under some construction equipment. He died while waiting to be airlifted to Mercy Medical Center. Police are not releasing his name, pending the notification of family.
