3 injured in 3 vehicle crash in Le Mars

A 3-car collision on Highway 75 north of Le Mars Tuesday afternoon sent three people to the hospital.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, around 3:45 a pickup that was stopped to turn into a private driveway on the highway five miles north of Le Mars, was rear-ended by an SUV.

That collision knocked the pickup into the path of a southbound vehicle.

The 17-year-old driver of the pickup and a 16-year-old passenger received minor injuries, as did the 57-year-old driver of the southbound car.

Three people in the SUV were injured, 28-year-old Margaret Jakobson of Maurice and her 2 children, ages 5 and 18 months.

Jakobson and her 5 year-old son were taken to Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, while her 18-month-old daughter was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City by Mercy Air Care. Her condition is unknown at this hour.
