UPDATE: Autopsy complete for man killed in Akron shooting
October 11, 2017 10:00 A.M.: The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy for 40-year-old Jeremy Hebert.
The Office says Hebert died from a single shotgun wound to the chest and abdomen.
The cause of death has been ruled a Homicide.
Becky Hebert, 33 of Akron, has been arrested and charged with Murder in the 2nd degree.
Hebert is scheduled to appear in court on Friday in Plymouth County.
OCTOBER 7, 2017 10:30 P.M.: We now know the name of the man shot and killed yesterday in Akron, Iowa and we also know more about his checkered past.
40-year-old Jeremy Hebert has been identified as the man shot and killed in his residence by 33-year-old Becky Hebert in the early hours of Friday morning.
She was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder yesterday.
The autopsy of Jeremy Hebert is still pending and will be completed early next week at the State Medical Examiners Offfice.
In a press conference yesterday, Plymouth County Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo said this wasn't the first trip the Sheriff's Office has made to the Hebert residence.
"Law enforcement of note has been summoned to this address previously. There have been incidences of domestic violence and disturbances at this residence," said Sheriff Van Otterloo.
Jeremy Hebert has a lengthy criminal record in Iowa according to Iowa Court records.
He pleaded guilty to charges of assault on peace officers in 2012.
In 2014, Hebert was arrested and charged after he made threats to blow up the White House and threatened to kill federal agents and a deputy sheriff.
In June of this year, Hebert was charged with attempted murder, domestic abuse, willful injury and child endangerment. He was found not-guilty in trial.
OCTOBER 7, 2017 11:00 A.M.: The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man shot and killed early Friday morning in Akron, Ia.
40-year-old Jeremy Hebert was shot and killed in his residence at 13203 Evergreen Avenue in Akron.
33-year-old Becky Hebert was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
An autopsy on Hebert is pending and will be completed early next week by the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny, Ia.
OCTOBER 6, 2017: Last night, just after 12:00 A.M., the Plymouth County Communications Center received a call regarding someone being shot at a rural Akron residence.
When officers arrived at 13203 Evergreen Ave, they discovered a white man in his 40's suffering from a gun shot wound.
The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
After an investigation, it was determined that the manner of death was the result of a homicide.
This afternoon, Becky Hebert, 33 of Akron, was arrested in Le Mars without incident and charged with Murder in the 2nd degree.
She is accused of willfully and deliberately causing the death of another.
Through the investigation, officers learned that Hebert and the man had been arguing prior to the shooting.
Police say they have been at this residence in the past for incidents of domestic abuse and disturbances.
The name of the man shot is not being released at this time.
Hebert is in the Plymouth County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
Investigators continue to work the case.
