Bright and colorful outing at the first Colorpalooza 5K fun run
The inaugural Colorpalooza kicked off in South Sioux City Saturday morning.
Hosted by the Dakota County Health Department, the 2018 Colorpalooza 5K Fun Run and Walk saw hundreds of participants, kids and their parents, get out and be active at the Riverview Outdoor Center.
The event featured live exercise classes, kid friendly activities and other health and wellness attractions.
"It was just nice to see that even in a big city like this how everybody can come together and have a good time. It was a safe experience. The sheriff's department was out there, making sure cars stay off the road and people can have, it was nice," said Kyle Novak, of Bancroft, NE.
There was also a petting zoo, and local non-profit groups like Noah's Hope. Event organizers say they look forward to Colorpalooza 2019.
"We're going to do it again next year. We want it to be bigger and better and hopefully grow from here and involve many, many more people," said Jennifer Ankerstjerne, Dakota County Emergency Response Coordinator.
All proceeds from this event will go back to Colorpalooza and their upcoming events.
