Brookdale Senior Living celebrates 25 years in Siouxland
The Brookdale senior living center in Sioux City is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The center is right down the street from St. Luke's Hospital and it was the first of its kind in the Sioux City area.
They'll be hosting an open house with drinks and prizes for residents as well as anyone in the community that wants to attend.
"It's exciting because here we are 25 years and we were the first community in Sioux City to have senior living experience and to be able to help our seniors," said Executive Director Jackie Loghry Pirmer.
One resident has been with Brookdale since day one, since 1993 after originally moving in to the independent living area with his wife.
"It was a dream or a wish. I'd walk by this old building wishing St. Luke's would tear it down and build a retirement home and they did," said Bob Hunt, a resident for 25 years.
Brookdale says they are always looking for more residents.
