SIOUX CITY, Iowa — It's a project that could ease traffic congestion outside of Sioux City's newest shopping center and now it's moving forward.
On Monday, the city council approved a consulting services agreement with a company to design a new traffic signal for the intersection of Sunnybrook Drive and Sergeant Road, near the city's new Fleet Farm store.
City leaders say their goal is to do what's best for drivers.
"We are responding to concerns that have been voiced by the motorists that use that intersection quite frequently. So we are responding to those needs. We're also making sure that it's compliant and consistent with the traffic patterns studies that we had done," said Dan Moore, city councilmember.
Moore said the project will go out for bid this summer, with work to install the new signals taking place this fall.
