SIOUX CITY, Ia — Sioux City's fifth splash pad is officially open Tuesday.
Local leaders held a short ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday afternoon in Cook Park.
The splash pad was already filled with children playing in the water to beat the heat.
Mayor Bob Scott says the city's other four splash pads are a popular summer spot, so adding another one was a smart move.
"These seem to be successful in the neighborhood. Dale Park has kind of been that way. It's kind of like the old days when you'd turn on the fire hydrant on hot days like this and only this has a lot neater effects and appeal then this," said Scott.
The splash pad is maintained by the city and is free and open to the public daily from 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
