Council agrees to buy SCPD 10 new vehicles

The Sioux City City Council approved a request for 10 new vehicles from the Sioux City Police Department.

The Department will receive 10 new Ford all wheel drive vehicles. The city solicited bids from 11 vendors for these cars with the winning bid coming in a little over $360,000.

Councilman Dan Moore said, "I think first of all replacing those vehicles keeping good operational vehicles in place for our police department is extremely important and we need to keep doing that. It's going to save money in the long run."

The 2018 vehicles are slightly more expensive than last year's model due to new features like automatic headlights.
