Democrat Jackie Smith welcomes Rick Bertrand to District 7 senate run
The race for the District 7 senate seat in Iowa is officially on.
Last night, Republican Rick Bertrand agreed to run again for the office he retired from after 8 years, after the Steven Stokes dropped out of the race.
Wednesday morning, Democratic nominee Jackie Smith met with constituents to talk about what she'll bring to the table if elected. Smith touched on topics like education and healthcare for Iowans and what voters can expect if they elect her in November.
"They can expect that I'm going to show up everyday for work, number one. They're going to expect that they can get a hold me at any time, that I am representing them, not myself. They can expect me to give them good representation," said Smith.
Smith is a former Woodbury County Supervisor.
She will face off against Bertrand in the November 6th general election.
