Rescue teams have pulled a car from the Missouri River this morning, nearly a week after witnesses saw it plunge in.
Recovery efforts began around 9:00 A.M. as members of the Sioux City Police Department, Sioux City Fire Rescue, Sioux City Dive and Rescue and others gathered at the riverfront at Chris Larson Park.
Recovery efforts have been ongoing since Monday when witnesses in South Sioux City saw a car go in to the water.
Rough and strong currents and low visibility have kept divers from pulling the car up sooner.
A diver connected a cable to the car, believed to be that of a missing family of three, around 11:00 A.M.
The car was successfully pulled from the Missouri River just before noon.
The Sioux City Police Department is now conducting an investigation into what led to the accident.
