UPDATE: One man arrested after high-speed chase in Dakota County Thursday night

High-speed chase ends outside farmhouse in South Sioux City

JANUARY 12, 2018:

We now know more about the high speed chase that took place last night in Dakota County.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a vehicle just before 8:00 PM on Old Sawmill Road.

The vehicle was driven by 36-year-old Timothy Freeman Jr. of Hubbard, NE.

Freeman Jr. fled the scene and drove north across Highway 20 onto Elgin Avenue and made his way west on Golf Road.

The vehicle entered a field and eventually made its way back to Old Highway 20.

South Sioux City Police Officers deployed tire deflation devices which stopped the vehicle a short time later.

Freeman Jr. then took off on foot and was captured by the Dakota County Sheriff's Deputy who deployed their tazer and took Freeman Jr. into custody.

He was booked into the Dakota County Jail on numerous charges including Flight to avoid arrest 2nd Offense (Felony), Possession of a controlled substance (Felony), Willful reckless driving, No operator’s license, Resisting arrest and eight other charges.

JANUARY 11, 2018: A man led police on a high speed chase through rural Dakota County tonight.

Dakota County Sheriff's Deputies, South Sioux City Police and Nebraska State Patrol were all in pursuit of a vehicle through rural Dakota County that came to an end outside of a farmhouse in South Sioux City.

The driver was said to be hitting speeds of 80 miles an hour on county roads before eventually stopping the vehicle and running.

Police caught him a short time later.

We don't yet know what led to the chase or how many people were arrested.
