IEDA approves $900,000 to remove lead paint from old Warrior Hotel
Today brought lots of good news for efforts to restore and "re-purpose" a number of historic buildings in downtown Sioux City.
First, the board of the Iowa Economic Development Authority has approved more than $900,000 dollars to remove lead paint from the old Warrior Hotel and remove asbestos from the Davidson building next door.
Those buildings are part of a $57 million plan to turn them into a Marriot-branded hotel, residential units and retail space.
A spokesman for the group, Roger Caudron, says that removal work could start around May first.
