Iowa mother found guilty in baby's death

    Cheyanne Harris, 21, was convicted by a Plymouth County jury Wednesday afternoon of first degree murder and child endangerment resulting in the death of her 4 month old son Sterling Koehn in August of 2017.

    The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that the jury deliberated for four hours.

    The baby's diaper was full of maggots when he was found unresponsive in a child swing in the Alta Vista home Harris shared with Sterling's father Zachary Koehn.

    He was convicted of 1st degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death in November 2018.

    Harris' trial was moved to Le Mars due to pre-trial publicity in Eastern Iowa.

    She will be sentenced on February 19th to a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
