The Food Bank of Siouxland is getting a boost to bring more fresh food to Siouxlanders who are in need.

Iowa Total Care has teamed up with the food bank to sponsor a Mobile Food Pantry program. The mobile food pantry truck can haul up to 10,000 pounds of food.

This sponsorship will help the food bank get more fresh produce into Siouxland's food deserts.

"This truck will serve about 75% of our local pantries and that represents about 75 individual pantries," said the food bank's executive director, Jake Wanterscheid. "If we can provide frozen meat and fresh vegetable that comes to everyone very naturally and provides the best nutrition that we can, cooking it does take some of that nutrition away, but being able to provide that raw vegetables is so important."
