Judge rules Aubrey Trail fit to stand trial in death of Sydney Loofe
The man charged in the death of a Neligh, Nebraska native last year has been cleared to stand trial.
A judge has ruled that 51-year-old Aubrey Trail is mentally fit to stand trial in the death of 24-year-old Sydney Loofe.
Trail's attorneys had asked that his competency be evaluated before the trial begins in June.
Trail and 24-year-old Bailey Boswell are charged with first degree murder and unlawful disposal of human remains in Loofe's death.
Court documents say Trail strangled Loofe with an electrical cord last November.
Her remains were found a month later in rural Clay County, Nebraska.
Trail has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He and Boswell both face the death penalty if convicted.
