Latte Art Throwdown brings in regional baristas for friendly competition
From tulips to rosettes, swans and scorpions, a dozen latte artists from around the Midwest faced off tonight in Siouxland's first Latte Art Throwdown.
Hosted by Stone Bru in Dakota Dunes, this regional competition brought in baristas from Iowa City, Vermillion, Sioux Falls and Sioux City as they put their artistic talents to the test.
"You really just get to meet people who work at different shops and we are trying to be a third wave coffee shop and trying to grow the craft coffee community. It was a community of service that was probably the most welcoming of all," said Ames, Ia barista Auggie Toscano from Windmill Coffee.
While this was the first of it's kind in Siouxland, these latte art throwdowns are happening nationwide and baristas at the event tell us this is only the first throwdown of the season.
