Man found dead after house fire in Onawa

ONAWA, IA — 37-year-old Garrett Ryan Brown was found dead in his Onawa home after a house fire early Tuesday morning, December 26th.

At about 7:39 AM, a 911 call came into the Monona County Law Enforcement Center, reporting a residential fire at 502 14th Street in Onawa.

The Onawa Police and Fire Departments both responded to the call.

When they got there, first responders saw a fire inside the residence, the house was full of smoke.

Inside, Onawa firefighters found Brown's body.

He is the only person who lives at this house.

The State Fire Marshal's Office and Onawa Police Department are still investigating the incident.
