Mardi Gras Festival kicks off Friday in Siouxland
The return of annual Mardi Gras Festival is kicking off Friday!
Event organizers are preparing for the big parade and festival, taking place in Downtown Sioux City.
The parade starts at 6:00 PM on Iowa Street, goes down 3rd Street before turning left at Pierce Street and ends at the Tyson Events Center.
The parade will be filled with handmade costumes, decorated with feathers and jewels all the way from Louisiana.
"Costumes, costumes every year change. And this year our theme is tune time so it's going to be really really fun, very family oriented, very kid oriented," said captain Chris Martin.
After the parade there will be a Cajun meal served at the Tyson starting at 6:30 PM, tickets to that are $18 dollars for adults and $9 dollars for kids 12 and under
There will be free live music and entertainment on the Tyson Events Center plaza beginning at 8:45 PM and a fireworks show to cap off the night.
