MedPharm Iowa to open in Sioux City this weekend
In just a few days, Siouxland's first medical cannabis dispensary, MedPharm Iowa, will open its doors to the public.
"Very happy to be here in the Siouxland area," said Stephen Wilson, Head of Dispensary Operations.
Located at 5700 Sunnybrook Drive, the new medical marijuana dispensary is the state's only licensed medical cannabidiol manufacturer.
"Our involvement in the communities that we're operating in, they're very important to us," said Wilson.
The new location has modern features and includes iPads where patients can sign in and order products.
The Sioux City location is just one of five dispensaries across the state, offering CBD and THC products that come in the form of capsules, oils and creams.
"I think it's a very good time for us to be able to offer the medication we're offering to them. I think they're going to be very happy with the results and very happy that the quality of their lives are going to be improved," said Wilson.
Wilson said, it's important to understand that physicians do not prescribe medical cannabis.
"All they're doing is certifying that they h ave one of the qualifying conditions," said Wilson.
Wilson adds, those conditions include diseases like cancer and chronic pain. He says, so far there are approximately 45 registered patients.
"And that's DOT issued and approved and that's the total number of registered patients here," said Wilson.
MedPharm Iowa will be open for operation starting Saturday, December 1st.
