Nebraska man accused of kidnapping, molesting preteen girl

Wakefield, Neb. man is charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, making terroristic threats, sexual assault of a child, and child abuse.

A Wakefield, Nebraska man is facing several felony charges Tuesday night after allegedly kidnapping and molesting a preteen girl this summer.

52-year-old Jose Gallardo is charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, making terroristic threats, sexual assault of a child, and child abuse.

Court documents claim Gallardo abducted a 12-year-old girl from a park in Wakefield sometime in late may or early June of this year, before driving her to a nearby softball field and molesting her.

His victim escaped when he was distracted by an approaching car, but didn't report the abuse because of threats made by Gallardo during the kidnapping.

The court documents say he confided in a co- worker last month who reported it to law enforcement, who launched an investigation.

The victim was identified and interviewed at Sioux City's Mercy Child Advocacy Center.

Gallardo is being held tonight on $300,000 bond in the Dixon County Jail.
