Norfolk, NE — UPDATE: 4- year- old Caylee Hoehne died yesterday (Sunday) at children's hospital in Omaha.
She'd been receiving treatment there for a week with no response after her mother took her to Faith Regional Health Services E- R in Norfolk.
Caylee's mother 21 year old Carla Montoya was arrested on a charge of negligent child abuse and is now facing a more serious charge in her daughter's death.
She has now been charged with child abuse that results in death, a class 1B felony.
The penalty for 1B felony is 20 years to life.
According to court documents Montoya admitted throwing Caylee onto the bed to investigators after her initial arrest.
PREVIOUS STORY: Madison County Attorney Joseph Smith says Caylee Hoehne, was pronounced dead Sunday evening at an Omaha hospital. She'd been flown there after being treated at a Norfolk hospital for a skull fracture and other injuries.
Caylee's mother has now been charged with intentional child abuse resulting in death.
Court documents say Montoya told investigators that she had tossed Caylee into her bed three times between 11 a.m. and noon on March 12.
Montoya said she thought her daughter may have hit her head on the bed frame or a wall.
PREVIOUS STORY: In court documents, a detective with the Norfolk Police Division says Caylee Hoehne, 4, was brought into Faith Regional West ER in an unresponsive state.
In a police interview, Carla told police she "tossed" Caylee onto her bed three times and squeezed her around her torso.
Carla Montoya said it is believed that Caylee hit her head on the bed frame or the wall. Caylee was then put to bed where she later woke up vomiting. Carla then placed Caylee in the shower where she was lethargic and would not wake up. She was then taken to Faith Regional West.
According to court documents, Caylee's conditional is very severe and has been placed in a medically induced coma.
Norfolk Police continue to monitor and investigate the case and are in contact with Child Protective Services, the hospital, and the Madison County Attorney's Office.

PREVIOUS STORY: On March 13th, 2016 at 1:28 a.m.,Norfolk Police responded to a possible child abuse case at the Faith Regional Hospital Emergency Room.
The 4 year old female victim was transported to an Omaha Hospital due to the severity of her injuries.
Norfolk Detectives interviewed the family and gained access to the family apartment where the injury occurred. The child was removed from the mother's custody and the child will be placed with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
The victims' mother, Carla Montoya, 21, was arrested for child abuse and taken into custody on Monday, March 14th.
Montoya is being held on a $500,000 bond in the Madison County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, March 22.
