UPDATE: Driver charged in fatal Stanton County accident

    One dead in a car accident in Stanton County over the weekend


    Following an investigation by the Stanton County Sheriff's office, a 24 year old Stanton man has been charged with Manslaughter in the death of Hunter Hetzler, 22, formerly of Stanton.

    Tucker Lanz has now been charged with the Class IIA Felony.

    The Sheriff's Office says Lanz was the driver of a BMW that left a county road east of Stanton and rolled causing the death of Hetzler back on May 12th.

    Alcohol and illegal drug use were considered to be contributing factors along with speed in the fatal accident.

    Lanz will make his initial appearance on July 24th in Stanton County Court.

    A young Nebraska man is dead after a crash in Stanton County this weekend.

    22 year old Hunter Hetzler of Stanton was ejected from the cars passenger side on Saturday night after it left the road six miles east of Stanton and hit a power pole.

    The Stanton County Sheriff's Office says Hetzler was not wearing his seatbelt and was pinned underneath the car when it rolled over.

    The driver of the car was also ejected, he was taken to a hospital in Omaha for treatment and has been cited for suspicion of DWI and Motor Vehicle Homicide.
