UPDATE: The man who crashed his motorcycle Saturday night has died

UPDATE 6/19: Sioux City Police have identified Hershel Hassebroek, 70, of rural Hinton as the man who was killed Saturday night after a motorcycle crash on Highway 75.


A man has died after crashing his motorcycle in Sioux City Saturday night.

The 70 year old whose name is not being released at this time crashed his Harley just before 9 PM Saturday night on Business Highway 75 in Sioux City just south of Frelon Drive.

That man was taken to Mercy Medical Center with life threatening injuries and has since died.

Police tell us they believe speed was a factor in the crash but their investigation is still ongoing.

One man was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City with life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle accident Saturday night.

At about 8:56 PM on June 16th, the Sioux City Police Department and Sioux City Fire Rescue were called to the single-vehicle accident on Business Hwy. 75 North, just south of Frelon Dr.

Investigators believe a 70-year-old male drifted his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle off the surface of the road, then lost control.

The motorcycle and rider fell to the ground, hit a guardrail, then the rider was thrown a short distance.

The name of the person involved is not being released at this time and the incident is still under investigation.
