Person officially sentenced for Morningside area assaults
The Norfolk man accused of a series of sexual assaults in Morningside last spring accepted a plea deal in Woodbury County Court Wednesday morning.
30-year-old Zachary Person pleaded guilty to charges of second degree burglary by a habitual offender and invasion of privacy.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the burglary charge and 2 years for the invasion of privacy.
Those sentences will be served at the same time and after time he's serving on charges in Nebraska.
He'll have to register as a sex offender and can't contact his three victims for a period of at least 5 years.
He'll be eligible for parole in three years after his Iowa sentence begins.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped charges of third degree sexual abuse, assault by penetration, serious assault and assault with the intent to commit sexual abuse.
