UPDATE: Theft charged dismissed against Former Westfield, IA Clerk
A Plymouth County Judge has dismissed theft charges against Angela Sorensen, the Former city clerk for the City of Westfield, Iowa.
Prosecutors say more time is needed to investigate the case.
Sorensen, 48, was arrested on earlier this month after the Mayor of Westfield advised the Sheriff's Office that they believe that a fund raiser account for the public park and the t-ball complex was missing funds.
Sorensen was scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.
The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged the former city clerk of the city of Westfield, IA with theft in the 2nd degree.
Back in September, The Mayor of Westfield advised the Sheriff's Office that they believe that a fund raiser account for the public park and the t-ball complex was missing funds.
After an investigation, Angela Sorensen, 48, was arrested Wednesday in Le Mars.
Court documents say Sorensen was in control of a fundraiser account at Peoples Bank in Akron, Iowa. Funds in this account were used for personal items with the value of $8,972.
Her bond was set at $5,000.
Sorensen appeared before a Judge and was released on her own signature.
Her next court date is October 30th at 9:30 a.m.
5:00 P.M. A criminal complaint against a former Westfield city official has two agencies looking into that city's books tonight.
Westfield is a small town of about 130 people about half an hour north of Sioux City.
The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office says it received a complaint about an alleged theft from the city last month and is looking into the possibility of misappropriated funds.
The Iowa state auditor's office confirms tonight that it is also investigating Westfield, looking into the city's financial transactions.
12:00 P.M. On September 7th, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from the the City of Westfield, Iowa of an alleged theft.
The sheriff's office is looking into the possibility of misappropriated funds.
