Puppies stolen from local pet store

UPDATE: Police in South Sioux City tonight are investigating the burglary of a controversial local pet store where four dogs were stolen overnight.

The Velvet Poodle pet store was broken into sometime between 8:00 Wednesday night and 7:00 Thursday morning.

Several puppies were stolen, including at least one French bulldog, one American bulldog and two English bulldogs.

The store's owner says the break- in comes as a shock.

"I love animals, I always have. I love providing animals to people and I love the breeders that we work with and I feel violated,"

The Velvet Poodle has come under criticism from some people who claim it's unsanitary and gets its animals from a puppy mill.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of these puppies.
