A Louisiana family's road trip came to an abrupt halt this afternoon on I- 29 just south of Sergeant Bluff after their R-V caught fire.
They were heading to Yellowstone National Park when that fire broke out in the northbound lanes just after 2 PM, backing up traffic for miles just beyond Exit 135 to Port Neal.
It only took crews about a half an hour to put out the fire, but that was enough time for it to destroy the R-V.
"We were on a nice vacation and now it's been abruptly halted," said Janet Waddell, a friend of the R-V owner.
The R-V was part of a group traveling to Yellowstone National Park, and had just stopped for lunch when the fire broke out.
