Rogelio Pablo-Morales found guilty of 2nd degree murder

Testimony begins in Pablo-Morales murder trial

A Woodbury County jury today has found Rogelio Pablo-Morales guilty of 2nd degree murder.

Morales is facing a sentence of 50 years in prison.

A sentencing date has not been set yet.

Morales, of Hubbard, Nebraska, was charged in the strangulation death of his former wife, 21 year old Margarita Morales in Sioux City in April of 2015.

Morales testified in his own defense Tuesday saying he blacked out and has no recollection of strangling his estranged wife.

He had been charged with first degree murder.

Court documents say Morales told investigators a fight broke out when his wife told him she no longer wanted to be in a relationship and that she was seeing another man.

The trial started last week in a Woodbury County courtroom.
