SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Security National Bank is warning users in the Siouxland area of a scam circulating the region.
The bank, in an email to customers, says scammers are “spoofing” official bank phone numbers, and posing as bank employees with their fraud department to trick customers into giving up personal information. These scammers are also manipulating caller ID so the call appears to be coming from the bank.
Security National Bank goes on to say that they will not ask for personal or account information over the phone that they already have.
If you are a Security National Bank customer and you receive one of these calls, hang up and call the bank directly to confirm the legitimacy of the call. If you fear you have been scammed or have received a scam call, report it to your bank immediately.
