SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Local businesses had an opportunity to learn about hiring and retaining immigrants in the Siouxland workforce.
The Employee Council in Iowa began the first of a three part series focusing on best practices for hiring and maintaining employees from other countries.
They also heard from an Afghan Refugee about his time in Sioux City, working in a local meat packing plant.
This 90 minute session all focused on helping newcomers to Siouxland find success.
One thing that surprised many, was the ninety day plan refugees have to find housing, employment and finding overall self-sufficiency.
