The battle against diabetes was being played out at a local golf course Friday.

The Sioux City Cosmopolitan Club's 23rd annual "Shoot for a Cure" Diabetes Golf Tournament was held at Whispering Creek. The event helps fund research to find a cure for diabetes. It also helps send 17 diabetic children to a diabetic camp in Boone, Iowa.

"We're all, if we don't watch it, potential diabetics. When you see children that are born with it, it becomes a passion because you want to help them. It's a lot of work for families and kids that have it their whole life," said Matt Chilton, Co-Chair of the Cosmopolitan Club.

After the golfing,the participants also got a steak dinner.
