Sioux City students use living history to learn about Thomas Jefferson
Students in Sioux City schools got a lesson in early American history from a special group of teachers this afternoon.
Re-enactors from Colonial Williamsburg visited the Orpheum Theatre today to re- enact scenes from the life of Thomas Jefferson with the help of expert historians.
"We hope that they understand the importance of history, the impact that our founding fathers had on the history of the United States and on our community today, along with civics and other important ideas about being part of a community and learning how to support one another," said Keri Kellen, executive director of the Sioux City Public Schools Foundation.
Today's special lesson was for 5th and 8th grade history students.
