North Sioux City, SD — A Siouxland company has started the cleanup process after being cited for dumping behind its property without permission.
The South Dakota's Department of Environment and Natural Resources confirmed that Hepar Bioscience has hired Lindblom Services to clean up the wastewater that overflowed from its pond behind its building in North Sioux City.
Monday we reported that the DENR had opened an investigation after discovering Hepar had dumped wastewater behind its facility without having the proper permits.
Hepar is a company that develops biochemicals from animal byproducts and is located roughly a mile away from the Big Sioux River.
If the wastewater that overflowed reached the Big Sioux, it could potentially harm fish.
