Spencer, Iowa woman arrested after walking naked on Grand Ave.

A woman from Spencer, Iowa is facing multiple misdemeanor charges after police found her, walking naked, along a busy street Wednesday night.

At 5:36 PM November 8th, the Spencer Police Department responded to the 200 block of Grand Ave., after a report of a woman who had gotten out of the vehicle she was driving, while it was in motion.

The driver was also reported to be nude.

When officers got there, they found 36-year-old Heidi Bern, of Spencer, walking naked in traffic on Grand Ave.

Officers were able to get her out of the road, but thought she might be under the influence of a controlled substance.

That's when officers contacted emergency medical services, but before they got there, Bern became combative and irrational.

Officers were forced to put her in handcuffs.

Bern was taken to the Spencer Hospital where she was treated and released.

Officers found Bern's vehicle, a 2002 Hyundai, had come to a stop on the sidewalk in the 200 block of Grand Ave.

It wasn't damaged.

Bern has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine (a serious misdemeanor), Interference with Official Acts (a simple misdemeanor), Disorderly Conduct (a simple misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (a simple misdemeanor) and an Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence charge is pending the arrival of laboratory results.

Bern was taken to the Clay County Jail with no further incidents.
