SIOUX CITY, Ia — Every year, Taco Johns sells a special dish around Christmas, "Nachos Navidad," and donates a part of the proceeds to charity.
For 8 years now, that charity has been Special Olympics Iowa.
The restaurant presented that group with a check for more than $1,400.
That money will be used to help send local athletes to the national Special Olympics competition in Seattle this summer.
"It'll be a great trip for them, the competition of being able to compete against athletes all across, across all 50 states, will be a great experience for them," said Bruce Wilson of Special Olympics Iowa.
Including today's donation, Taco Johns has now donated more than $15,000 to Special Olympics Iowa over the last 8 years from the Nachos Navidad fundraiser.
