United Healthcare show their generosity by donating 600 coats to Unity Elementary
Temperatures are dropping in Siouxland but that doesn't stop kids from hitting the playground at recess and kids at a local elementary are now warmly dressed for fun outside.
600 winter coats were delivered to students to Unity Elementary in Sioux City. Kids were able to pick out their very own winter coat to make sure they are nice and warm this winter season.
"I'm seeing a lot of smiling faces and I’m seeing a lot of enthusiasm, and they are giving choice too which is pretty amazing and they really appreciate it,” said Principal Eric Kilburn.
For Iowa State Representative, Chris Hall favorite part was seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces made this time of year even more special.
"Oh this is the highlight of my week, getting to actually visit with little kids and see them pick out a new winter coat, just to stay warm this winter. It’s a wonderful thing and something that just comes at the right time of year as we are all thinking about the holidays, and good ways to be good to each other.”
The 600 coats were donated thanks to a $50,000 contribution by United Healthcare.
