Well Enterprises donates $2 million for Le Mars sports stadium

The facility will still be known as Jim Lorenzen Field in honor of the school's former longtime teacher, coach and athletic director and Wells Community Stadium.

A nationally known Le Mars business is stepping up to help renovate the community's football stadium.

Wells Enterprises has made a donation of $2 million towards renovations and updates to the stadium that is used by both the public school and Gehlen Catholic.

The facility will still be known as Jim Lorenzen Field in honor of the school's former longtime teacher, coach and athletic director and Wells Community Stadium.

"It's going to be very exciting, very exciting for the whole community. It's great for the future generation for Le Mars community students but also it's a great economic development tool for the community because when people take a look at Le Mars this will be one of the show case stadiums," said Le Mars Community Schools Superintendent, Steve Webner.

It's hoped the project will be done in time for the start of the next football season in August.
