Woman identified in fatal I-29 accident
Police say 42-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Zirbel, of Sioux City, was the person killed in an accident early Thursday morning on I-29 southbound.
Police say the investigation is still going on, and no further information will be released at this time.
One woman is dead after being hit by a truck on Interstate 29.
According to a press release from Sioux City Police, around 3:30 this morning, a woman was standing in the right lane of I-29 south near the Hamilton Boulevard exit.
At that time, a semi-tractor pulling a livestock trailer drove through and hit her.
The woman was taken to Mercy Medical Center and died there as a result of her injuries.
Traffic was stalled during that time on the interstate, with police forcing cars off the Riverside Boulevard exit.
Lanes were opened back up at around 6:30 a.m.
Police say the incident remains under investigation and won't be releasing any names at this time.
