Woodbury Co. votes to join Rolling Hills Mental Health Region
Tonight Woodbury County is one step closer to joining the Rolling Hills Community Services region for mental health.
After weeks of controversy, most members of the board are excited to move forward and say they do not plan to file a lawsuit against the Sioux Rivers Region that the county has been associated with for years.
This comes after the region's largest mental health provider, Siouxland Mental Health, recommended the county join Rolling Hills.
"We're looking forward to a good relationship with Rolling Hills Region. In addition to our largest mental health provider recommending it, our board members were positively impacted by recent meetings and that's why I think we gained a vote of the member of the Board of Supervisors for this move," said Chairman of the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors Matthew Ung.
The motion passed on a 4 to 1 vote with the lone Democrat, Marty Pottobaum, opposing.
If it's accepted, Woodbury will become the 8th western Iowa county served by Rolling Hills.
It's hoped those mental health services for the poor could begin on July first of next year.
